About the Shard design
Shard is built from cut glass. Each of the eight slots is a separate faceted panel, split from its neighbors by a thin gap, so the wheel looks like a pane that was cut into pieces and set back in place. Light runs along the edges of every panel, and the facets have depth, catching cold reflections as if the glass is thick. An outer guide ring circles the whole wheel to hold the shapes together visually. The selected panel takes the accent color through the glass, so it reads like tinted crystal rather than paint. In the center, the weapon name and attachment are shown above the 3D center mark. There is no texture, no pattern and no ornament; the detail is all in how the light hits the edges.
Pairing it with your minimap
Shard is a natural partner for minimal and flat minimaps. Because it has almost no texture, it fits beside a clean map with a plain background and one accent. Crimson glass matches a black map with red routes, Void is dark and neutral for monochrome HUDs, Glacier suits icy blue and winter maps, Emerald works with green themes, and Bronze pairs with warm, metallic maps. Set the edge light color close to your map's road lines and the thin lines on both pieces will look related.

Shard weapon wheel FAQ
Does Shard work on bright daytime scenes?
Yes. The panels have their own glass color and edge light, so they do not rely on a dark background. If you play mostly in daylight, raise the facet depth and choose a darker glass color in the studio for extra contrast behind the icons.
Which minimap style suits Shard best?
A flat, minimal map with a plain dark background and one road color. Shard has no texture of its own, so a textured map would make the HUD feel mismatched. A clean map lets both pieces share the same crisp look.
Can I remove the outer ring?
The outer guide ring is an adjustable effect, along with edge light and facet depth. Without the ring, the panels float as separate shards, which gives a lighter, more open wheel. It is a good option when your minimap has no frame either.
