About the Drum design

Drum is a revolver cylinder turned into a weapon wheel. Each slot is a chamber, separated by the long flutes cut into the cylinder's steel, with fine machining lines running across the metal. Brass cartridge rims show at the back of the chambers, with primers in the center that can be sized up or down. An ejector star, the star-shaped plate that pushes spent shells out, sits in the middle behind the weapon name and attachment text and the 3D center mark. Loaded chambers can show their brass, and the selected chamber lights up in the accent color, like the round lined up with the barrel. It is compact, mechanical and very recognizable.

Pairing it with your minimap

Drum fits western, gang and street servers, and it pairs well with gritty or vintage minimaps. Blued steel matches a dark navy or steel-grey map. Nickel is bright silver for clean, light maps, Gunmetal is dark grey for monochrome street HUDs, Desert brings warm sand tones for western and desert-town maps, and Black cylinder is almost black for night servers. The brass rims are a natural warm accent, so a minimap with gold or amber roads ties in nicely. Keep the route color close to the accent on the selected chamber so both pieces point players to the same thing.

Drum weapon wheel FAQ

Can I hide the loaded chambers?

Yes. Loaded chambers is an adjustable effect, along with primer size, ejector star and machining lines. Hiding the loaded brass gives a cleaner cylinder where only the icons and the selected chamber stand out, which suits a busy minimap.

Is Drum good for a western server?

Very much so. A revolver cylinder is the most western weapon wheel you can have. Pair the Desert palette with a sepia or sand-toned minimap and the HUD feels like it belongs in a frontier town.

Why does a revolver wheel have eight slots?

Because it is still the native GTA V weapon wheel, which uses eight slots. Drum keeps that layout so players select weapons exactly as they always have, with 1 to 8, the mouse, or Q and E to cycle within a slot.
