Free FiveM minimaps, honestly compared

There are good free minimaps for FiveM and there is no reason to pretend otherwise. There are also costs to them that nobody lists on the download page, and they tend to show up a month later when you want to change something. This page is the comparison, and then the free option here, which is a real map rather than a watermarked sample.

What free packs give you

A finished map, usually a satellite or recoloured one, installed the same way as any other. For a brand new server that is genuinely enough, and spending money on a map before you have players is the wrong order.

The catch is that free packs are shared. Whatever you install, a few hundred other servers installed too, including the ones you are competing with for the same players.

What they cost later

Baked labels are the big one. Most public packs have postal numbers, district names or a grid burned into the image, and you cannot remove them later without repainting that part of the map. If you eventually run your own postal grid, you are stuck with two.

Then resolution — several popular packs are upscaled, which shows the first time somebody opens the pause map. Then licensing, which is often unclear or simply absent, and matters if you take donations. And then branding: you cannot put your logo on a pack you do not have the source for.

  • Shared with every other server that downloaded it
  • Baked numbers and names you cannot remove
  • Upscaled art that shows on the pause map
  • Licence terms that are frequently missing

The free map here

Every tenth account that registers gets a base map free — a whole map from the collection, not a trial and not a watermarked preview. It installs like any other and it is yours.

What it does not include is branding: elements are $1.00 each, so a free map with your logo and server name on it costs $2.00. That is the whole catch, stated plainly.

When to pay

When the server has players and you want it to look like itself. Before that, take the free one — from here or anywhere else — and spend the effort on the things players leave over.

Questions

Is there a genuinely free FiveM minimap here?
Every tenth account that registers gets a base map at no cost. It is a full map from the collection, installs the same way, and is not watermarked or time limited.
What is wrong with the free packs on the forums?
Nothing, for a new server. The costs are that they are shared with hundreds of other servers, they usually have labels baked in that you cannot remove, several are upscaled, and the licence is often unstated.
Can I brand a free map with my logo?
Here, yes — elements are $1.00 each on top. With a downloaded pack, only if it ships editable source, which most do not.
Do I have to give a card to register?
No. Registration is a Discord sign-in, and you only pay at the point you download something you have bought.
